Homemade Hamburger, Peppers, and Onion Gyros
👉Ingredients:
◾️1½ pounds lean ground beef
◾️Salt and pepper to taste
◾️3 teaspoons olive oil
◾️1 cup chopped green bell pepper
◾️1 cup chopped red bell pepper
◾️1 cup chopped onion
◾️1 can Rotel (diced tomatoes with green chiles – hot or mild, your choice)
◾️4 pita breads, slightly warmed
◾️½ cup sour cream
◾️¼ cup blue cheese crumbles (optional)
👉Instructions:
↪️1. Slightly warm the pita breads in the microwave so they’re soft and flexible.
↪️2. In a large skillet, add the ground beef and break it up as it cooks.
↪️3. Add the olive oil, green and red bell peppers, and chopped onion.
↪️4. Cook until the beef is no longer pink and the vegetables have softened.
↪️5. Stir in the can of Rotel and mix well.
↪️6. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
↪️7. Lay out four sheets of aluminum foil. Place one warmed pita on each sheet.
↪️8. Spoon about ¼ of the meat and vegetable mixture onto each pita.
↪️9. Wrap the foil around the pita to hold it together like a gyro wrap.
↪️10. Top with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of blue cheese, if desired.
