Braised Oxtails in Rich Brown Gravy

 


🍖🥣 Deep, savory, and fall-off-the-bone tender.


👉Ingredients:

🍖 3–4 lbs oxtails, trimmed

🛢️ 2 tbsp vegetable oil

🧅 1 large onion, chopped

🧄 4 garlic cloves, minced

🟤 2 tsp browning sauce (optional, for color)

🍅 1 tbsp tomato paste

🌿 1 tsp dried thyme

🟤 1 tsp allspice

🌶️ 1 tsp paprika

🥫 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

🥣 2 cups beef broth

💧 1 cup water

🌿 2 bay leaves

🧅 2 scallions, chopped

🔥 1 Scotch bonnet or habanero pepper (optional, for heat)

🧂 Salt and black pepper to taste


👉Instructions:

1️⃣ Season and Brown Oxtails:

– Pat oxtails dry and season well with salt & black pepper.

– Heat oil in a Dutch oven. Brown oxtails in batches, 4–5 min per side. Set aside.


2️⃣ Sauté Aromatics:

– In the same pot, cook onions until soft & caramelized (5–7 min).

– Stir in garlic, thyme, paprika, allspice, tomato paste & browning sauce. Cook 2–3 min.


3️⃣ Deglaze & Simmer:

– Add Worcestershire, beef broth & water. Scrape up browned bits.

– Return oxtails to pot. Add bay leaves, scallions &
