😍Try This Flavorful & Simple BEEF MECHADO
👉Ingredients:
🔹️1 kilogram beef chunks (cut into medium cubes)
🔹️⅓ cup soy sauce
🔹️Juice of ½ a lemon
🔹️Ground black pepper (to taste)
🔹️5 cloves garlic (minced)
🔹️1 medium onion (chopped)
🔹️2 carrots (peeled and sliced thick)
🔹️2 medium potatoes (peeled and cut into cubes)
🔹️1 large green bell pepper (sliced)
🔹️Cooking oil
🔹️180g tomato sauce
🔹️1 beef broth cube
🔹️Thai chili (optional, to taste)
🔹️4 bay leaves
🔹️Water (as needed)
👉Instructions:
✅️1. Marinate the Beef:
In a large bowl, combine the beef chunks with soy sauce, lemon juice, and ground black pepper. Mix well so all the meat is coated. Cover and let it marinate for at least 1 hour in the fridge.
✅️2. Sauté Aromatics:
In a deep pan or pot, heat a bit of cooking oil. Sauté the minced garlic and chopped onion until they are soft and fragrant.
✅️3. Cook the Beef:
Add the marinated beef (including the marinade) into the pan. Sauté for about 1 minute. Then add the bay leaves and stir. Cover the pan and let it cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
✅️4. Add the Sauce and Simmer:
Pour in the tomato sauce and mix well. Add 2 cups of water, the beef broth cube, and Thai chili (if using). Stir everything together, cover, and simmer for 40 minutes to 1 hour, or until the beef becomes tender. Add more water if needed to keep it from drying out.
✅️5. Add Vegetables:
Once the beef is tender, add the carrots and potatoes. Cook until the vegetables are soft and fully cooked.
✅️6. Final Touch:
Add the green bell pepper and let everything simmer for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and the flavors are well blended.
👉To Serve:
Serve hot over steamed white rice or with warm bread. It's hearty, flavorful, and perfect for family meals!
