Old-Fashioned Beef Stew
◾️A bowl of comfort with tender beef, hearty vegetables, and rich flavor—perfect for any day!
👉Ingredients:
↪️2 tablespoons olive oil
↪️2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into cubes
↪️2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
↪️4 cups water
↪️2 cups beef broth
↪️1/2 teaspoon salt
↪️1/2 teaspoon black pepper
↪️4 cups potatoes, peeled and cubed
↪️2 cups carrots, chopped
↪️1 teaspoon dried rosemary
↪️1 cup fresh corn kernels
↪️1 cup fresh green beans, cut into 1-inch pieces
↪️1 cup chopped turnip (optional)
↪️2 cups fresh tomatoes, chopped (optional)
👉Directions:
✅️1. Brown the Beef:
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Toss the beef cubes with flour until coated, then add them to the pot. Cook until browned on all sides, about 5–7 minutes.
✅️2. Simmer the Broth:
Add water, beef broth, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir well and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 1 hour to allow the beef to become tender.
✅️3. Add Root Vegetables:
Stir in the cubed potatoes, carrots, turnips (if using), and rosemary. Cover and simmer for another 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until vegetables and beef are soft.
✅️4. Add Final Vegetables:
Add corn, green beans, and tomatoes (if using). Simmer uncovered for another 30 minutes until all the vegetables are tender and the flavors have blended well.
✅️5. Taste and Serve:
Adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot with crusty bread or warm biscuits for a classic, comforting meal.
